Sonoma Valley Hospital offers an outstanding opportunity for an experienced, full time day shift Registered Nurse who is looking for a career move to a small community hospital where excellence is the cornerstone. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of high quality individualized patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosing, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The Registered Nurse is responsible for directing and coordinating all nursing care for patients based on established clinical nursing practice standards. The Registered Nurse functions as a member of the health care team through independent, interdependent, and dependent roles within the health care system. The Registered Nurse utilizes interpersonal skills to maximize customer service in a manner that supports excellence in customer service, safe patient care, and professionalism. The Registered Nurse contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. The Registered Nurse serves as a patient advocate and assumes the responsibility and accountability for patients. The Registered Nurse demonstrates knowledge of and practices within the scope of the RN Licensure as defined by the California Board of Registered Nursing and the Nurse Practice Act. The Registered Nurse acts as a role model for professional practice through consistent demonstration of the nursing process and delivery of high quality nursing care. Quality patient care is defined as care that is safe, effective, efficient, timely, equitable, patient-centered, and evidence based. The Registered Nurse participates in and demonstrates strategies to support and facilitate individualized patient care through the identified model of nursing care.

Key role responsibilities include:
• Ability to utilize the nursing process in the provision of nursing care including but not limited to administering treatments and medications in compliance with the physician's orders and applicable hospital policy, interpreting diagnostic tests, formulating an individualized plan of care, collaborating with other health care providers and providing education to patients/and or significant others (while in compliance with HIPPA).
• Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care to patients of all age groups- must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development through the life span, possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status, and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's needs in relation to age.
• Must document/chart observation and other data related to the clinical condition of the patient. Must properly and accurately chart observations and activities related to patient care.
• Utilizes effective communication when dialoging with patients, families, visitors, co-workers and providers.
• Implements consistent patient safety practices
• Demonstrates safe medication administration practices, including adherence to the strict administration, control and dispensation of narcotics in accordance with the hospital policy.
• Participates in ongoing educational opportunities to maintain current licensure and certifications, as well as maintains ongoing education for annual competency and compliance trainings.
• Initiates or assists in Hospital Codes and CPR as required.
• Is responsible to respond for assignment during a disaster incident
• Performs other duties as needed

JOB QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum Education, Certifications and Experience):

Education: Associate Degree or Certificate Required, Bachelor's Degree preferred
Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience in the Acute Care Hospital REQUIRED as this position floats to Med/Surg, as needed.
Licensure: California Registered Nurse
Certification(s): BLS and ACLS are required upon hire.
